Onondaga County Candidates

Brian May – Legislative District 1

Brian represents the 1st Legislative District which includes Lysander and part of Van Buren in Baldwinsville. Known for his pragmatic and traditionally conservative approach to local governance, Brian is an independent voice for all residents of his district and across Onondaga County.

Kevin Meaker – Legislative District 2

Kevin J. Meaker decided to run for Onondaga County Legislature because he wanted to be able to work on important issues that affect people’s lives and help shape the future of our community. First elected in November 2023, Kevin Meaker is now serving as the District 2 representative.

Tim Burtis – Legislative District 3

Timothy T. Burtis joined the Onondaga County Legislature in 2015 after serving as a Deputy Supervisor and a Town Board Member in the Town of Cicero. In 2024, he was chosen by his peers as Chairman of the Legislature, a leadership role earned through hard work, collaboration and a desire to see the best for the people of Onondaga County.

Chad Clark – Legislative District 6

Chad Clark currently serves as Mayor of the Village of Marcellus and is running for County Legislator in 2026. Chad brings years of local government and community leadership experience to his role. He is currently the Chair of the Marcellus Climate Smart Communities Committee. He previously served on the Zoning Board of Appeals and led the Marcellus Chamber of Commerce as President from 2020-2025.

Dave Knapp Legislative District 12

Dave Knapp has been serving on the Onondaga County Legislature since 2012, where he’s taken on leadership roles including Chairman of the Legislature, Majority Leader and Ways & Means Committee Chair. Currently, he’s Chair of the Planning & Economic Development Committee, Vice Chair of the County Facilities Committee and a member of the Ways & Means Committee.

Ken Bush Legislative District 13

As a County Legislator, I am proud to represent Camillus, Baldwinsville-Van Buren and Jordan-Elbridge areas which comprise the 13th District. It has been an honor to serve you. As a former Town Supervisor, I have a passion for local government and the residents in the district I represent. I strive to enhance an equal partnership between town & village governments and the County.

Cody Kelly Legislative District 14

Cody Kelly is a lifelong resident of the 14th District. He graduated from Cicero-North Syracuse High School in 2009, and received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from SUNY Upstate Medical University in 2016. As a Physical Therapist, Dr. Kelly works with children all over Onondaga County. Providing home-based care has allowed Dr. Kelly to witness first hand some of the issues affecting people across different communities, like the effects of poverty. He believes in responsible local government which limits the tax burden on families and promotes economic growth and job opportunities.

JUDGE MATT DORAN

Judge Doran was elected as an Onondaga County Court Judge in November 2016 and was appointed Supervisory Judge for the Onondaga County Court in 2024. He is running as an incumbent for Onondaga County Court Judge in 2026.

 Prior to joining the bench, Judge Doran served in the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office from 1998 to 2016. During his tenure, he personally prosecuted homicide cases, and oversaw the Homicide, Special Victims, and DWI and Vehicular Crimes Bureaus. Earlier in his career, he served on active duty as a Naval Officer in the United States Navy JAG Corps and continued his service in the Navy Reserve for more than two decades, including mobilization to active duty following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. He retired from the Navy in 2024 with more than thirty years of total service.

 In addition to his judicial service, Judge Doran has served as an Adjunct Professor at Columbia College and currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at Syracuse University’s Whitman School of Management. He earned his law degree from Albany Law School, his undergraduate degree from St. Lawrence University, and is a graduate of Westhill High School. He volunteers in many youth sports and other community organizations. Judge Doran is married to Bénédicte Doran, and they have three children, Jack, William, and Harrison.
