Wendy Van Der Water for Town of Van Buren Supervisor

Wendy Van Der Water holds a business associates degree from SUNY Canton.  Wendy began her public service career as a Town Councilor for the Town of Van Buren in 2004 for one term (4 yrs) and became a mom and decided not to seek re-election.  Wendy decided to jump back into public service in 2019.  Again, serving as a Town Councilor for the Town of Van Buren. Since then, she has served on the Board of Directors for Canton Woods Senior Center,  a served on the following committees:  Facilities (Chair), Planning and Zoning (Chair) and Personnel.

Rober Grover for Town of Van Buren

Robert B. Grover, small business owner of a local Abstract and Title Company, his wife and daughter moved to the Town of Van Buren in September 2009. Robert began his public service as an appointed Town Councilor for the Town of Van Buren in February 2023. Having won the election in November 2023 to Fill Vacancy, he has devoted his time to preserving our small-town character, town transparency, and being fiscally responsible. Robert has sat on the Facilities Committee and currently sits on the Public Safety Committee, Personnel and Administration Committee and currently chairs the Planning and Economic Development Committee.

Michael Burke for Town of Van Buren

Michael Burke is a life-long resident of the town of Van Buren.  He has owned a home in the village of Baldwinsville for 35 years.  He holds an Associate’s Degree in IT Management, with multiple professional certifications.  He recently retired after 21 years in Network Operations from Saab Defense & Security in Dewitt.  Mike has served on the Town Board for 1 ½ years.  This year he oversaw the town’s information technology upgrades, and is currently the Chairman of the Highway Committee.

 

Judge Jay Plumley

Judge Plumley was first elected as Van Buren Town Justice in 2021, and is seeking re-election.  Judge Plumley has over 14 years of diverse legal experience in private practice, and is committed to family, community and the administration of fair and impartial justice.

Charity Gustke

Charity Gustke has been a resident of the Town of Van Buren since 1991. She is an ordained minister and founder of New Heart Ministries where she currently serves as the Senior Pastor. Charity and her husband Bryan, a Baldwinsville native, have raised 4 children in Baldwinsville and are currently raising their nephew and niece. Appointed as Town Councilor in August of 2025, Charity brings years of working with diverse groups of people and common-sense problem solving to the Board as they tackle the challenges of their local community.

Chris Sherwood

Chris Sherwood is currently the DPW Superintendent in the Village of Manlius. Chris began his public service career in January of 2016 as an Assistant Superintendent and was promptly promoted to Superintendent in June of 2016. Chris sits on the board of directors for the Onondaga County Highway Superintendents Association, was elected as Secretary in 2018 and then reelected in 2019 as Secretary/Treasurer. Chris is a representative for the Village of Manlius on the Onondaga County MS4 Stormwater Coalition.
